DALIA PULAO

Healthy recipe for pregnancy

  • Ingredients- Dalia, Chopped spinach, carrots, french beans, onion, green chilies, green peas, coriander, cloves, black pepper, bay leaf, cinnamon, cumin seeds, salt and oil.
  • How to make- Heat oil in pan and add cumin seeds, pepper, bay leaf cinnamon and cloves. Then add the chopped vegetables and cook. Add dalia and mix well. Add salt, cook for some time and serve by garnishing with coriander.

Dalia is made with whole wheat grits or broken wheat. It is easy to digest and is a very good source of energy. It definitely is a healthy option for breakfast.

Vegetables added to the pulao such as spinach (rich in vitamins such as vitamin a and vitamin k and minerals such as magnesium iron and copper), carrots (rich in potassium and antioxidants), french beans (good source of proteins, vitamins and dietary fibers) also enhance the nutritional value of the dish.

CHICKEN SWEET CORN SOUP

  • Ingredients- boneless chicken, shredded or diced, sweet corn, chicken stock, one spring onion, egg whites, whisked, pepper powder to taste, lemon juice, water as required, salt to taste.
  • How to make- heat four cups of water in a saucepan. Add the chicken pieces and salt and cook until slightly tender. Then, add sweet corn and pepper. Cook for some time on low heat till it boils. Add the egg whites and stir gently. Remove from the flame. Garnish with chopped spring onions and a dash of lemon juice. Serve hot.

Chicken and egg are good sources of protein. Adding corn to the soup helps you get your dose of fibre which helps prevent constipation.
