Dieting during pregnancy can affect your baby!!! Know the importance of eating right during pregnancy?

It often happens that many women are scared of gaining excessive weight during pregnancy, due to which they limit their food intake. But, that is not the right thing to do. Your baby requires as much nutrition as possible for a healthy growth. Dieting during pregnancy is not a wise idea.

However, according to doctor’s women who are “normal weight” is expected to gain 25-30 pounds during their pregnancy. And for the women who are “under- weight” tend to gain 28-40 pounds during the period. It also depends on the weight you have before getting pregnant. During the first trimester women gain an average of six pounds.

Here is the diet you can follow during pregnancy:

Intake of fruits and Vegetables: Consuming fruits and vegetables is a must. It is because they contain a lot of vitamins and nutrients. A pregnant woman should consume at least 70mg of Vitamin C on daily basis which is found in fruits like oranges and vegetables like tomato.

Intake of carbohydrates:  Consumption of breads and grains which are rich in carbohydrates is essential. They are rich in iron and fiber. You should consume at least 6-11 servings of breads and grains daily.

Dairy Products: Taking calcium is important. You should consume an average of 1000 mg daily because the baby requires enough calcium to stay away from any deficiencies.  Good sources of calcium include milk, cheese, yogurt and puddings. A minimum of 4 servings is required for consumption daily.

Therefore, you should be careful with your diet during pregnancy because your baby will get nutrition from what you will eat.
