Yoga poses to improve blood circulation

Yoga is a great way of staying fit during pregnancy. The benefits of Yoga range from strengthening your muscles, increasing stamina, dealing with pregnancy symptoms to improving blood circulation.

Circulation exercises are to improve circulation of blood in the body so as to provide maximum oxygen to the baby developing in your womb.

There are four main types of circulation exercises – A, B, C, D.

Circulation – A

Yoga poses to improve circulation - A

This can be done in standing as well as sitting positions.

1) Stretch your hands to place them in line with the shoulders.
2) Make fists out of your hands and let the elbows be taut.
3) Move your wrists up and down in a slow rhythmic manner 10 times.

Circulation – B

This can be done both in standing and sitting positions.

1) Stretch your hands to place them in line with the shoulders.
2) Keep your palms straight with fingers taut.
3) Turn your palms upwards and downwards 10 times.

Circulation – C

This can be done only in standing position.

1) Stand with feet a little apart from each other and arms relaxed.
2) Curl your left leg backwards, thus shifting body weight onto your right leg.
3) Repeat the same with the right leg.
4) Repeat this exercise 7-10 times.
This helps in improving lower body circulation as well as to strengthen hamstrings.

Circulation – D

This can be done only in standing position.

1) Stand with feet a little apart from each other. Place your wrists in front of the chest with elbows bent.
2) Move both the elbows backwards so as to stretch the chest area.
3) Along with this chest stretch movement, curl your left leg backward, shifting the body weight on your right leg.
4) Repeat the same with the right leg, synchronizing both the arm and leg movements.
5) Repeat this exercise 7-10 times.
