Your baby is over 2 inches long now.
The task of developing new bodily structures is almost over. His systems are fully formed but these systems need to mature. Over the next 28 weeks, his organs get to work. Your baby’s reflexes start developing this week. The baby’s fingers begin to open and close, his toes curl, his eye muscles will twitch. His intestines start to move into his abdominal cavity; his kidneys begin to excrete urine into his bladder. His brain continues to develop and nerve cells multiply rapidly. His face looks more like a baby now. His eyes and his ears are where they should be.
His digestive systems start to contract. His bone marrow produces white blood cells. His pituitary gland has started to work. His nervous system continues to develop. The rest of his body is developing, and your baby’s head is about 1/3 of his body.
