The growing baby measures about 10.5 inches from head to toe. Your developing baby still has a great deal of room in your womb for twisting, turning and moving around. The eyebrows and eyelids are fully developed and so are the fingernails. The baby’s hearing has also developed. You can communicate by talking, singing or even reading aloud. His arms and legs are in proportion, and his bones are developing. He is moving around even more. This week, your baby’s bone marrow starts to make blood cells. The baby also begins to develop a sense of taste. He is absorbing small amounts of sugar from the amniotic fluid he swallows. These sugars pass through your baby’s digestive system, and the digestive system is now developed enough to handle them. Any processing of the sugars, however, is only done as practice. However, he is still completely dependent on the placenta for his or her nourishment.
