Congrats you are now 27 weeks pregnant (or in your 28th week if that is how you count it)
How your baby is growing
Now you are nearing the last stage of pregnancy – your third trimester – and your baby weighs about 800 gm and measures about 14 inches with his legs fully extended. From now on your baby will start to grow in size and fill the space available in your uterus. The baby may be able to move his fingers now and may even such his thumb occasionally. He sleeps and wakes up at regular periods, and can now open and shut his eyes. Even though they are still premature, your baby’s lungs will work with extensive medical assistance, if he is born prematurely. Read additional information about your child’s development this week.
How your life is changing
Your body is changing quickly now, you may start experiencing some new symptoms. Along with the back ache, you might find your legs cramp now and then. This is partly because of the extra weight that you are carrying and also because of your uterus partially pressing against the blood vessels and limiting the blood supply. Some women may also experience varicose veins during this time. uterus is up close to your rib cage. (But you need not worry as they ought to disappear after the delivery). If you have not already opted for an Antenatal class, now is a great time to do so. You can book them with Ango health.
Surprisingly, studies have demonstrated a mother’s breastfeeding success has a lot to do with the disposition of her spouse. Now is the right moment to let your partner learn breastfeeding basics so he could provide help after the baby is delivered. You may need to be looked after in the very first few days after the birth, so your partner should be ready to help more around the house and at meal times, especially if you have had a caesarean section.
